Pamela Jean Hartsook

June 22, 1948 — January 2, 2016

Pamela Jean Hartsook (Schoessler) passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Portland, Oregon due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. She was 67.

Pam was born on June 22, 1948 in Portland, Oregon to parents Theodore and Amelia Schoessler. She graduated from Grant High School in 1966 and married John Lee Hartsook on June 2, 1970. They welcomed their first son, John Lee Jr. in November 1970 and went on to have two more sons, Brian Michael in 1972 and Theodore William in 1977.

After separating from her husband, Pam sacrificed her own desires to raise her three boys as a single mother. She was known for her kind soul and giving heart and would help anyone who was in need. Everyone called her “Mom” and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. Pam loved animals, especially horses, and was an avid collector of porcelain figurines. She had an artistic mind and was known for her decorations, both at work and at home, for ALL holidays and celebrations.

Pam worked at Frederick & Nelson and as a phone operator for a telecommunications company before becoming a department manager for Liberty Northwest Insurance where she oversaw phone and mailroom services for over 25 years before retiring in 2012.

Pam is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Bill Knebel; her three sons and daughters-in-law, John & Opal, Brian & Evelyn and Ted & Renata.  She is also survived by four nieces and nephews: Bill Jr, Robert, Kim and Carol; and her proudest achievement, her NINE grandchildren: Alyssa (21), Jessica (13), Michael (10), Andrew (5), Shyre (23), Eris (21), Renvell (18), Joseph (12) and Ainsley (4).
