Paul Thomas Cox

November 28, 1916 — April 10, 2008

Paul T. Cox, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2008 at the age of 91. He was born in Adel, Iowa on Nov. 28, 1916, to Oren and Mary Cox. Paul is survived by Audrey, his wife of 64 years; his son David and daughter Kathy Cox; his beloved niece Margaret Vanzant, his sister Freda Melbrandt, his brothers Omer and John Cox and 13 grand children and great grand children.
Paul spent his early years in Iowa and in South Dakota. When he was a teenager his family moved to Oregon eventually settling on a farm near Canby. Paul served in the army during World War II where he was stationed in Panama. It was during this tune in the army that Paul learned to be a Diesel Mechanic, eventually working over 30 years for Halton Tractor in Portland.
Paul enjoyed life. He was the type of person who was always happy, always looking on the bright side and finding the "silver lining" in every occasion. At various times in his life he was an avid hunter, a devoted golfer and an accomplished square dancer. He and Audrey loved to fish the Columbia and to go camping in their RV. They spent many years as "Good Sam" members traveling throughout the West and even as far as Texas and Louisiana.
Paul was a man of honor and integrity who lived life to the fullest. He faced his impending mortality with the same class and grace with which he lived his life. He will be greatly missed but his gentle ways and pleasant disposition have left a memory that will live on in the hearts of his family and those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at Rose City Park Methodist Church on Friday, April 18 at 2:00pm.
Paul will be buried at Willamette National Cemetery.
