Precious Allen Wasson, the second child of James and Fannie McCauley, was born January 22, 1917 in Hosston, LA. Precious was raised with her aunt and her uncle who was a logger. While living with her aunt and uncle she traveled through several logging camps.
As a young girl Precious learned handcrafts such as sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting and leather crafts. She continued making one-of–a-kind blankets, table cloths, shawls, dishcloths pot holders and crafts for the majority of her life. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking everyday even as recently as December, 2012.
She was also able to travel with her girls, other family members and good friends to places like California, Texas, Reno, Las Vegas Nevada and even The Bahamas!
Precious who was endearingly called "Mama Precious" or "Aunt Precious" by most everyone, loved to laugh and tell jokes. She was an amazing cook and loved to collect and make all kinds of recipes (although she added her own special touches to each one). She continued to make her scrumptious fruit cake up until just last year!
White Stag Manufacturing Co. lost one of its greatest employees when she retired in 1982 after 36 years of service. During her employment at White Stag, Precious was honored in the Oregonian as one of the "Skilled Negroes Absorbed by Portland Industries" for her outstanding skills as a seamstress.
1963 brought about her union to Buerett Wasson (Jack). This union continued until Jack's death in 1992. They enjoyed each other's company doing activities like fishing, traveling and entertaining friends and family.
She was a long time member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Rebecca Circle, Enterprise Ch #1 OES, Altruistic Club OAC W.C Willamette Assembly #57 and Mina Court 142.
Precious was preceded in death by her husband Buerett Wasson, parents James and Fannie McCauley, one sister Cora Lee Porter, three brothers George, James and John McCauley and most recently her youngest daughter Mary Webster.
She leaves to celebrate her home going daughter Gloria King (RH), Seattle, Vernal Webster son-in-law, Portland, Her sister Palestine Maxey (California), Nine living grand children, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
