Obituary of Rei Suzukawa
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held, 1PM, Wednesday, December 16 th at Rose City Funeral Home. Rei passed away at her home in Beavercreek surrounded by her family’s love and care, she was 94.
Rei was born October 5, 1921 in Takamatsu, Japan to Shinichi & Kimie (Mizusawa) Mori. Raised in Japan in 1948 she married Fred Suzukawa a United States Soldier that was stationed there. After the wedding the couple moved to several military bases both overseas and stateside. In 1964 they were divorced. From this union they had two children. In the 1960’s Rei worked for McDonald Douglas as a draftsman, she later owned and operated the Senfuku Japanese Restaurant in San Pedro, California from 1971 until 1985. In 2004 she moved to Oregon City, Oregon to be with her family and in 2008 moved to Beavercreek. Rei enjoyed worked with her hands and was very talented with skills in pottery, ceramic tile mosaics and baking wedding cakes. She was also a dog lover.
Rei is survived by her children Donna & Daryl Suzukawa ;grand-children Leonard Reeff, Christopher Martinez & Molly Martinez; great grand-daughter Zoey Reeff ; nieces Beniko Takahashi & Junko Kanou, and cousin Sumi Larrabee of Hawaii. Her brother Bon Mori predeceased her.
