Richard A. Freeman
May 29, 1943 — March 17, 2015
Richard Allen Freeman was born to Jimmy and Wynona Freeman on May 29, 1943 in Atmore, Alabama.
He attended Escambia High School in Atmore, Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. After college he was drafted to the U.S Army where he served two years in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Richard eventually returned to Houston , Texas where he met and married Inez Lawrence in 1972 and from this union were born two children. In 1991 Richard relocated his family to Portland, Oregon and dedicated many hardworking years to Hewlitt-Packard and First Student Transit where he retired in 2013.
Richard enjoyed fixing and repairing things around the house, fishing and cooking one of his favorite meals, creole style seafood gumbo.
He is preceded in death by his mother Wynona Frye.
Richard leaves to mourn wife, Inez Freeman; children Courtney and Todd; granddaughter, Nona Rae Freeman; sister, Beverly Ann Holman (Detroit,MI); aunt, Willie Fred Stephens (Pensacola,FL); mother-in-law, Mary Anna Lawrence (Houston,TX) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws and friends.
