We lovingly remember and treasure the life of Richard Castleton Riddle. Born on January 17th, 1941, and dying on October 18th, 2019, Dick was raised in Portland, graduating from Cleveland High School and later studying business at Portland State University. He went on to work for Boeing as a wing and cockpit inspector. He later held a lengthy career in the printing industry and sales. Dick married the former Linda Davis in 1974, adopting her two daughters Sherry and Sheila. Dick and Linda have been married for 45 years. He is also succeeded by his sons-in-law, David and Jack, and two grandchildren, Mary Shaye and Mitchell.
Dick had many interests in life, primarily gardening, skiing, golfing, and fishing. He was the proud captain of his small fishing boat the Lindy Lu, and also enjoyed spending time at the beach, where he would nap in the sun and listen to 50s music. He was known for his collection of antique clocks, his red 1965 Thunderbird, and his love for dogs, especially “real ones, where you don’t have to bend over to pet them.” Above all, Dick was known as an honest, hard-working man, who was always willing to go out of his way to help family and friends. Quitting or doing a half-baked job was never a possibility for Dick, whether it was doing small projects around the house or executing full-blown renovations. Many who have known him have said “Dick Riddle is one of the finest men I’ve known,” and he will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
