The Wonderful Life of Robert C. Burns As He Lived 100 ½ Years Young
Robert was born in Dufur, Oregon, near Hood River, on August 23, 1917. His parents were Edith and C.J. Burns. He had two younger brothers, Henry and Milton. Robert graduated from Jefferson High School. He was married to his first wife, Virginia Kandel in Portland on August 5, 1939. They had a daughter, Carole and son, David. Robert and Virginia were married 52 years. They had six grandchildren: Julie, Susan, and Nancy; Neal, Laura and Emily. They also had five Great Grandchildren: Jeremy, Joshua, Jacob, Justin and Allie. Robert retired from the Portland Fire Department and Oregon Department of Education. He was President of the Lyons Club and became a Master Mason with Unity Masonic Lodge in Portland. In 1995, Robert married Shirley. They were married for 23 years. They moved to Palm Desert in 2014. Robert celebrated his 100th Birthday in July, 2017 with relatives and friends who came from all over the country and Canada. Robert is beloved by family and friends. He has been a very good listener, a man of integrity, and with his positive attitude, has had his glass always at least half full.
