Robert H Tinker II "Bob"
Bob died in his sleep April 25, 2013 at the age of 52. A service will be held at Rose City Cemetery on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 1 pm.
Born October 22, 1960 to Robert and Eileen (Smith) Tinker, he graduated from Beaumont Elementary School and Grant High School and still lived in the Beaumont neighborhood. He also attained AA degrees in Hotel Management and Restaurant Management from Portland Community College, though he never worked in those fields.
His life long struggle with intractable epileptic seizures left him frustrated in finding long term employment. After surgery in 2011 to treat his epilepsy he was finally seizure free and was hopeful he'd have a new life but too much damage had already been done to let him achieve that dream.
Bob was passionate about photography, history, antiques, biking, and woodworking. He biked and bussed all over Portland, a city he deeply loved for its history and architecture, documenting preservation and destruction of historic buildings. He volunteered with several neighborhood groups and NAMI, collecting donations for annual picnics. A devotee of the Saturday Market, he made good friends among the vendors and had hoped to join them with recent woodworking and photography projects. He loved the outdoors, Portland's parks and natural beauty, and the excellent mass transit system, frequently commenting on how fortunate it was that dad had chosen Portland to practice medicine and raise a family.
