Roger Paul Setera was born in Oregon City, Oregon on March 2, 1941 to George & Pauline Setera. He grew up on his parent’s farm. He helped his dad in the berry fields and construction business. Roger attended St. John the Apostle School and Oregon City High School where he graduated in 1959.
Roger had many occupations in his early years,: union plasterer, Filter Queen Vacuum cleaner salesman, and Honeywell Copy Machine Sales to name a few. He was also an inventor, holding the patent for the flip-top cap, and a door lock design. Roger loved to work with his hands. His true calling was Chiropractor. After a serious injury, he was treated by a Chiropractor when the Medical doctors had given him no relief, and he made the decision to pursue this career. He attended Western States Chiropractic College, Portland, Oregon and graduated with a doctorate in 1969. He ran a successful practice at Starkwood Chiropractic for over 30 years.
Roger was a health enthusiast and athlete. He body trained at Loprinzi’s Gym, and made many life-long friends from there. He met Laverne Wurch, a divorcee and mother of two, at Western States and they married in 1969. Roger adopted Laverne’s daughter, Rochelle. Roger had no children of his own.
Laverne preceded him in death, in February 2011.
Roger was also a Milwaukie Elks member where he met Susan Winstead (also a recent widow). They married in 2013. Roger and Susan were working on a Tarzan adventure novel and children’s book until his diagnosis.
He attended Oak Hills Presbyterian Church in Milwaukie with his wife, Susan.
Roger passed away on May 15, 2014 from pancreatic cancer at home in Milwaukie, Oregon.
Roger is survived by his wife, Susan Setera, a sister Georgia Setera of San Francisco, Laverne and Susan's children and grandchildren, several cousins and many extended family members.
