Ronald Gene Griggs

Ronald G. Griggs, age 82, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Saturday morning, July 6, 2013. Born September 30, 1930 in Portland, Oregon, the younger of two sons of Clifford and Kate (Walker) Griggs. He is survived by his children Katherine, Jean, John and Michael, 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Ron lived a life filled with family, friends and fun. He learned his lifelong trade of plumbing while serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. During the Korean conflict he spent several tours, in the Navy, on Guam and returned safely home. Although Ron retired from his many years as a construction plumber with Local 290 Steamfitters and Plumbers, he had also enjoyed a time working for Nevada casinos and as an owner-trainer for harness racing horses when he was younger. In his free time he loved to go fishing and camping and when he wasn't doing that he could always "play the dogs or horses".

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Rose City Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends of Ron are welcome.
