She also taught Sunday school and was active in several Portland churches in later years. After her husband's death in 2004, she moved to Cherrywood Village in Portland, where she lived until 2011. She was generous with family and friends, and enjoyed camping, traveling, and attending music performances. Survivors include two sons, Allen Pierce and Calvin Pierce, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Woodward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portland Rescue Mission.
