Scott R. Hannigan

November 28, 1947 — June 25, 2021

Scott R. Hannigan passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021, from Cardiac Arrest.  His wife, Lynda Darling, and sister-in-law, Sandi Rosenfeld, were both by his side.  Scott, who was 73, was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.  He attended Central Catholic High School, and Portland State University.  He earned a BS and MS in Economics and began his career working in Salem under Governor Tom McCall.

Scott later joined the electric utility, PacifiCorp, in 1978 as an analyst in the load forecasting area. At that time, there was considerable controversy about the company’s need for new sources of electric power. Management, as well as government officials, needed to make decisions based on technical arguments involving large statistical models. Scott stood out as someone who could make sense of the statistics. He was colorful and liked by all. Within a few years, he was promoted to Director of Forecasting. In the mid-80s, Scott was promoted to Director of Economic Development. His analytical and people skills helped him attract new business to the PacifiCorp area.  By the late 1980s, his responsibilities expanded to include all marketing as well as energy conservation programs. In 1992, Scott became director of business development for Pacific Gas Transmission Co. There, he was responsible for natural gas service agreements with new industries and electricity generation facilities.

In his later years he spent time being an Energy Consultant to several companies and became a licensed Tax Consultant.  He enjoyed the challenge of finding ways to save money for his clients.

Scott leaves behind his loving wife, Lynda, of 46 years,  and their many beloved Cats.  When he was home, he always had one or more of his Kitties in his lap.  He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Hanningan and his step-mother, Lorraine. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends and family.
