Scotty Waring passed away October 27, 2014 embraced in the arms of his loving family after suffering a heart attack. He was 57. Scott was born in Portland, Oregon to Janet and Skip Waring who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Cresent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon in 1975 – GO BIG RED! Scott attended Oregon State University. While living in Corvallis with his family, Scotty developed a huge love and knowledge of college sports but especially the BEAVERS. His Dad worked on campus for the forestry division and the family had free access to all activities and athletics at the university.
Scotty moved back to Portland with his family where he was employed by Coca Cola as a beverage driver for 21 years. In 1993 he met and married the love of his life, Nina.
After retiring from Coca Cola, Scott went to work for Cascade Courier as a driver where he always talked about how he had the best bosses in the whole world. He would often arrive early just to visit with his co-workers before he started his route. At the end of the day they would visit again, laugh, tell stories, and discuss the world of sports.
In addition to his wife Nina, he is survived by his one sister, Celeste Waring. Two children, Jodi and Jacob Shafer, one daughter-in-law, Lani Shafer and 2 granddaughters, Hailey and Emma Shafer who loved their Poppy very much.
Scotty joined the East Portland Moose Lodge in 2002 and was a 25 year member of Teamsters Local 162. Many people may have the opportunity of the gift of life through his choice to be an organ donor.
He loved going to “The Pines” beach house in Seaside Oregon with his family and traveling to Hawaii and San Francisco.
