It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic and untimely passing of Shaud'e Leigh
Hutchison, 31, who was taken from us by a senseless act of violence on March 4, 2025.
Shaud'e was born on June 3, 1993, in Portland, Oregon, to Jennifer “Jeanette” Hutchison and Christopher Portis. She was a vibrant and loving soul, filled with a zest for life that touched everyone who knew her. Her laughter and bright smile could brighten even the darkest of days.Shaud’e participated in many youth groups, including Nara's Nak-Nu-Wit Circles of Care and Systems of Care. She was a member of the NAACP Youth Council, and she regularly participated in the NAACP Coalition Urban Youth Programs, in partnership with the City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and many other nonprofit organizations, giving back to her community through community service.
She attended Fort Vancouver High School and was a member of the basketball team. She played the clarinet andthe piano.She loved fishing at Allison Point in Valdez, Alaska, during her summer trips to visit family. She was known for her compassion toward others, offering friendship and kindness. Her generositywas without expectations, and she always thought of others before herself. She loved her family unconditionally.
She leaves behind her heartbroken parents, Jennifer and Christopher; her cousin, Ra’eesah McMickle; her sisters, Krista Portis and Christina Portis; and her brothers, Devin Jiang Hutchison, Christopher Portis Jr., Tristin Carpenter, and Nehemiah Beavers; and a large circle of family and friends from Portland, Oregon, Vancouver, Washington, and North Pole, Alaska, who will forever cherish her memory.
Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.We are devastated by this senseless loss and are struggling to comprehend the tragedy that took her from us. We will remember Shaud’e for her unwavering spirit, her compassionate heart, and the joy she brought into our lives.A memorial service to celebrate Shaud’e's life will be held on March 19th, 2025, at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home, located at 5625 NE Fremont St., Portland, Oregon 97213. We ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
