Shawndrae Deon Norwood

Early life:

Shawndrae Deon Norwood was born December 1st 1994 to Shawn Norwood and Angela Turner Andrews. Shawndrae had a lot of hurdles to cross as a young boy. It was discovered early on that he had rickets which impeded his ability to walk. From his very first PT and OT appointments Shawndrae ran the show.. He was determined to do things his way which was the only way...so the therapists followed suit.

Since Shawndrae couldn't walk he came up with a clever way to get around that was unique..  He would just roll everywhere.. he rolled so fast at times it would scare the heck out of you..but he'd just lift his head and keep on rolling if there was an obstacle in his way.. . He then went from rolling to literally walking on all fours but used his head as a guide causing rug burns on his forehead (his way once again). At about 4 it was discovered Shawndrae had nerve deafness in one ear and partial loss of hearing in the other, but you would have never known it because he had mastered reading lips and he refused to wear aids.

Shawndrae just wanted to be normal.. but Shawndrae was far from normal.

He had a mind like a computer, a vocabulary so extensive you would literally have to go and look up words so you'd know what he was talking about lol especially if it was a subject he was truly passionate about.. Shawndrae was a loving, compassionate young man that loved God, family and life... And often talked about the concept of time travel and what that would mean for mankind, the end times game he was working on, and any thing in the world of Anime.

School and work:

Once at Hosford middle School Shawndrae excelled.. his true personality emerged.. He was very tenacious when it came to something "he" wanted to do but it had to be what "he" wanted to do.

He came up with an idea for a toy, submitted his idea, next thing I know I was getting a call from "Tyco" they were actually interested in this toy concept Shawndrae submitted.. he was 12

At Cleveland High he got involved in the arts. He loved Musicals, performed in plays, played the trombone, drums, sang in choir, and dabbled in comedy improv... He also dabbled in a life of crime as well by taking my car on a joy ride when I was out of town lol and it was revealed through his class assignment.. Coincidentally his class was asked to do an essay on "something they did that their parents did not know about.'..

Though Shawndrae was brilliant he had a tendency to forget small details...like the topic of his assignment. But he was excited that he got an "A"  on his essay... so much so, he insisted I read it.. and as I read, I asked him if it were true, his reply was "kinda... sorta... a lil bit... Okay! yes Mom... but I got an " A!!!" Lol

After graduating, Shawndrae wanted to work but had no real skills and I convinced him to go to Job Corp to get a trade.. He went in the direction of business and earned his Diploma in Office Administration.. when he returned he started working at Wal-Mart for a spell as a Cashier.. he had a hard time with interacting with people so he left there and got a job at a call center. One day he went in to work at the call center and came right back.. He came home and said "Mum,  uh Apparently I got fired yesterday but yesterday was my day off" .. who does that Shawndrae  ..since working a normal 9-5 was too stressful Shawndrae decided to go back to school.. He attended Mt. Hood Community college where he was just a semester away from earning his Associates degree in Game and Interactive Media Design.. His last employer was at lil Caesars pizza where he work 2 days a week. Shawndrae also was a certified care provider so that he could take care of his Mother.

Last days:

Shawndrae was searching..He asked a lot of questions about the end times and what that meant for him and his future. He was worried that he wouldn't have a family of his own because he had found the love of his life and they were about to embark on a life together in New York City. Shawndrae was very happy at the end of his life. He had established a relationship with his Dad and everything was moving in the right direction until covid struck and changed everything. Shawndrae was 26 yrs 8months 26 days old when he passed on 8/27/21@7:01a.

Significant Other JJ,  1 uncle Al-Gene Hall (Marisa), uncle (Christopher Hutchinson preceded him in death) 5 aunts Terza Andrews (Omaha NE), Ashley Norwood (ATL), Adrienne Norwood (D.C) Hannah Peterson (OR), Grandmother Fredna Hutchinson (L.A), grandmother (Charles Etta Grigsby preceded him in death), Grandfather Hawthorne Norwood (Crenshaw MS), grandfather (James D Andrews preceded him in death) A host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and Friends.

Your life brought joy and hopes for tomorrow.. your absence brings pain and so much sorrow.

If I could have just one more day I'd ask God to take me and let you stay.

But God knew who He wanted and who He wanted was YOU... See you're my favorite son but God's favorite Angel too.

I miss you like crazy love and wish you were here and Everytime I close my eyes I hear u whisper in my ear.. " Mom I'm alright, I'm okay we'll see each other again one day"

But my only son is gone away and that one day should be today... until one day has come and gone I'll remember and miss you and carry on
