Shirley Jeanne Hanna

Our beloved mom was called up by the good lord on February 6th, 2022. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, February 14th with a memorial Celebration of Life to follow in April.

Throughout her life she touched all with warmth, love, and welcome, a truly giving person that made everyone feel special who were blessed to know her. She always looked at life in a positive, optimistic way full of hope and joy. She was born Shirley Jeanne Bender on July 13th, 1928. She attended Beaumont Grade School, Grant High School and graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a bachelors degree in music, studying voice. She Met Mark at Lewis and Clark College and they were married in 1951. With her loving and devoted husband Mark, they raised four children, Jeff, Linda, Holly, and Tracy, while being blessed with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren .

Shirley was an active member at Rose City Park Presbyterian Church singing with the choir and serving as a Deacon. She was also a member of her local PEO chapter. She enjoyed gardening and playing the game of Golf. Shirley sang for many years. She was the soprano soloist at First United Methodist Church for 30 years. She was a vocalist for Koin Radio and TV. She sang for the Red Dunning Orchestra and a member of the Duncan Singers. She also sang for the International Club at the Downtown Hilton Hotel In Portland with the Billy Starkel quartet. She performed with the Winnifred Baker Chorale performing pops concerts with the San Francisco Symphony orchestra director by the renown conductor Arthur Feidler. This was the highlight of mom's many musical accomplishments. Remembrance contributions can be made to Rose City Presbyterian Church, PEO and Lewis and Clark School of Music.
