Suzanne Martha Hobson

Suzanne Martha Hobson was a resident of both Portland and Hood River, Oregon. She peacefully passed away in her home in Portland on February 17, 2020 at the age of 61.

Suzanne was born January 19, 1959 in Portland to Donald and Mildred Hobson. Suzanne was the youngest of three girls. She attended grade school at Charles A. Rice and then attended middle school and high school in Hood River. She graduated from Hood River High in 1977. She began working at Diamond Fruit. She later moved to Portland and began a career with the Portland Police Bureau in August of 1993. It is from the bureau where she retired several years ago.

Suzanne had a love of animals. She had three fur babies, Otis, Tessa and Charlie. The dogs were her pride and joy. They were well taken care of and she considered them her children.

Suzanne had many interests. She loved to read. She spent much of her time in the outdoors. She hiked, gardened and fished. She even took up bicycling in the city as well as the beach. Speaking of the beach, she loved going to her family beach house in Gearhart. Many family outings occurred there. It was a home away from home.

The “true apples of her eyes” were her nephews and nieces. She cherished her relationships with all of them. They included nephews, Daniel Brown, Jason Knowles and Matthew Knowles. Her niece, Michelle Knowles. She had two great nieces, Ariel Knowles and Tahlia Cubit whom she was just beginning to build a relationship.

Suzanne will be remembered by her beauty, her friendliness, her kindness, but above all her love of animals.

Suzanne is survived by her sister, Trudy Knowles. Her nephews, Daniel, Jason, Matthew; her niece, Michelle and her great nieces, Ariel Knowles and Tahlia Cubit. Her fur babies, Charlie and Tessa.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2020 at the Laurelhurst Club at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Oregon Humane Society or Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her mother Mildred in 1984 and her father Donald in 2000 and her sister, Kerry in 2014.
