Our beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend Trudy Diane O'Neal (age 55) transitioned to be with the Lord the morning of January 11th. Trudy was born to Arthur Lee O'Neal and Ester Mae Wilder Denton on April 18, 1952 in Wilmot Arkansas. She was the eldest of three children. In death she is preceded by her father's Arthur Lee and Travis Denton, grandparents Lonnie & Minnie Wilder and her cousins Gail Wilder & Lee Hughley, Jr.
Trudy relocated with her family to Portland, OR at the age of seven where she was educated at Holiday Park Elementary and Washington H.S. Although smaller in statue then her younger brothers she ruled as the one in charge. Head strong and fiercely independent she refused to let her disabilities from birth define or limit her. Her beauty, style, dancing abilities and sass made her center of the "in crowd". Her hobbies included socializing, completing crossword puzzles, watching soaps and reading God's word. Her greatest and highest success in life came as a single parent with the help of God, family and public assistance she raised three college educated, successful and independent adults. Her eldest daughter Michelle is a civil engineer with the Dept. of Navy, her only son Lavert is Vice Principal at Jefferson H.S. and her youngest Jataune a manager at Nordstrom by day and a Gospel Artist Manager by night. To commemorate her 50th birthday she rededicated her life to God with a second baptism. Her last place of residence prior to a nursing facility was Gresham, OR.
Trudy passed from complications developed after a stroke this past September. With the zest for life and the feistiness that defined her she fought the good fight to spend a little more time with us. As a heir to the Kingdom, she leaves behind her mother Ester Denton; children Michelle Robertson, Lavert (Traci) Robertson, Jataune Hall; brothers Billy O'Neal, Kenneth O'Neal; sister Kelly O'Neal; aunts Lavern (Solomon) Toliver, Maybell Hughley; uncle Lonnie Wilder, Jr.; grandchildren Anais JaChelle Robertson, Denton "J B" Robertson; nieces Tanecia Griffith, Layla O'Neal; nephews Jimmy O'Neal, Donnie O'Neal; cousins Rev. Gwen Wilder, Larry Wilder, Belinda Wilder, Debora Leopold Hutchins, Vickie Toliver, Harold Toliver, and a host of relatives and friends. Last but not least her companion of many years Bernard Williams.
