Virginia was born in Lansing, Michigan and grew up in Portland. She graduated from Washington High School in 1942. After high school she attended Oregon State College where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. The friendships she made there she kept throughout her life. After graduating from Oregon State she married Robert E. Burns. They had four children. She worked for the Portland Public school District in the district office before retiring. She was active in PEO and enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, gardening, traveling with her sorority sisters and the beach. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents and grandson, she is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, a sister in law, one niece and two nephews.
At her request there will be no service, private interment at Rose City Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Andrews Forest Fund at OSU. http://andrewsforest.oregonstate.edu/lter/about/forestfund.cfm
