Virginia (Gusse) Kugel, born in 1928, was raised on a farm in N.E. Portland, Oregon. She was the youngest child of a single German immigrant mother and the only one of her three siblings to be born in the USA. She lived most of her life on 63rd Street, and, even after she married, raised her own family on that same street. After the farm was sold and the kids gone, life became more fun! Virginia and her husband moved to other homes - now with swimming pools, traveled all over the world (Africa, S. America, China), and especially loved the attention she attracted when she drove her little sports cars around town well into her 80s.
Gardening, traveling, and her cats made her happy. She played a “competitively spirited” game of pinochle, and it was a REALLY good day if she could double a coupon on a sale item making it FREE!
Virginia was married to Keith Kugel (recently deceased) for almost 67 years! She is survived by her children: Sandy
Peterson-Fry (Jim) and Glenn Kugel (Chris); Four grandkids and spouses; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon on Monday, July 25th at 2:00.
Her family wishes to gratefully thank Elsa and her staff at E & N Foster Care for their kind attention and support.
