William “Billy” Hollins Jr. was born on January 30, 1951 to William and Opal Hollins in Springfield, Illinois. His parents preceded him in death in 1993 and 2010 respectively.
Billy lived in Springfield, Illinois and Bastrop, Louisiana until he moved to Portland at the age of eleven. Billy attended Shattuck Elementary. He attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. In high school Billy was on the Varsity Wrestling team in the 98 lb. class.
Billy enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard, and was honorably discharged due to a disability. During the years after the discharge, Billy enjoyed life on his terms. Billy was a kind, giving and gentle man, with a sense of humor. Even after death he gave of himself, donating to the Lions Vision organization, and Community Tissue Services.
Those left to mourn his loss are his sisters: Gladys Hollins Hedgmon, Myrtis Williams and Kimberly Hollins; his brothers: Michael Heidelberg and Glenn Hollins; his Uncle and Aunt Solomon and Lavern Toliver, his Uncle Earl Hollins, and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
