On the 29th of August, 2023 the world lost a shining star when Christine “Chris” Smith went to Heaven, joining her parents and younger brother Doug. She bravely battled non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma to the very end.
Chris was born on February 6, 1954 to Russell and Marjorie (Bessemer) Carlson in Alameda, CA. She is survived by her beloved husband Andrew, children Kristofer Anderson, Adam Smith and Brandon Smith (Sharie). Chris also leaves her two grandsons Caiden and Cameron along with their parents Ashley and Steven as well as her siblings; Don (Terri), Keith (Angie), Cindy (Tom) and Dave (Robin).
Chris graduated from Gunn High School in Palo Alto, CA. She received an Associates degree from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA. Chris moved to Portland in 1978 and went to beauty school to become a hairstylist. She was self employed at Lovings Hair Gallery East in the Gateway Area for almost 30 years! She enjoyed sharing her life with her clients and cherished those relationships. She was dedicated to her clients and appreciated them immensely.
Family, friends, clients. they all were the same to her. She loved to share her latest adventures, offering “advice” to all that would listen (or anyone within earshot!). Chris loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, her favorite vacation spot. She loved soaking up the sun by the pool or the ocean, sipping a drink and sharing many laughs with those she loved. Most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, always planning their next over-the-top adventure! The yearly holiday trip to visit her grandchildren each December always offered many wonderful, cherished memories.
In lieu of flowers and cards, donations can be made to the Oregon Humane Society that will benefit animals in need.
